Elective Fine Arts

Fine Arts

The importance of fine arts and its effect on students’ personal and social development has been cited in empirical studies which revealed that when the arts are an integral component of a curriculum, the result is “enhanced learning and achievement as well as positive social outcomes” (Burns, 2003: 05). It is on this premise that the 63 standards for Music and Visual Arts were develop through extensive review of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Education, Tennessee Department of Education ,and South Dakota Department of Education Fine Arts Standards. Note, in this subsection, the letter V is used to represent the Visual Arts Standards.
